GCAnalytix was created to expand access to advanced bioinformatics for academic laboratories and emerging biotechnology startups. The initiative is built on the principle that powerful computational methods should not be limited to groups with large informatics cores, but instead be broadly available to accelerate discovery across disciplines.

head-shot

I’m Gio Cholico, PhD, founder of GCAnalyTix, and a bioinformatician and biomolecular scientist with extensive experience in both wet-lab experimentation and computational analysis. I bridge molecular biology with advanced bioinformatics, integrating high-performance computing, multi-omics pipelines, and reproducible workflows to transform complex biological data into actionable insights that drive innovation in pharm/tox, cancer biology, and translational medicine.

Core Expertise

At GCAnalyTix, my expertise spans molecular biology, computational method development, integrative multi-omics analysis, and translational bioinformatics. With extensive experience in both experimental and in silico approaches, I design and implement scalable workflows while also guiding experimental strategy to ensure data are optimized for downstream bioinformatics analysis.

  • Experimental Design & Strategy – Strong foundation in molecular and cellular biology, with expertise in designing wet-lab experiments that generate high-quality datasets tailored for computational analysis.
  • Computational Workflows – Development of reproducible, high-performance pipelines using Snakemake, Nextflow, and Slurm-based HPC environments.
  • Programming & Data Science – Advanced proficiency in R, Python, and Bash for statistical inference, visualization, and large-scale data processing.
  • Multi-Omics Analysis – RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, CRISPR screens, and integrative pathway analysis.
  • Infrastructure & Cloud Solutions – AWS-based pipelines and high-throughput data management strategies for collaborative research.
  • Translational Applications – Linking molecular signatures to pharmacology, toxicology, cancer biology, and precision medicine through advanced computational modeling.

Publications

I actively contribute to the scientific community through peer-reviewed publications, conferences, and collaborative studies. A full list of my work is available through NCBI.

Single-nuclei RNA-seq revealed how TCDD disrupts hepatic cell function, driving steatosis, fibrosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma–like changes through cell-type-specific AHR signaling.

Integration of metabolomics, ChIP-seq, and RNA-seq identified a mechanism by which dioxin impairs fatty acid oxidation, providing insight into its role in the progression of steatotic liver disease.

lncRNAs show cell type-, zone-, and species-specific regulation, expanding the transcriptional landscape of liver responses and underscoring their potential to improve mechanistic understanding and predictive models of hepatic disease and chemical toxicity.
